Hot Water Scalds!

Pretty obvious right? But walk into many domestic kitchens, and more than a few professional ones, turn on the hot tap and what do you get? A stream of dangerously hot liquid that the user is now going to add cold water to in order to be able to safely stick his/her hand in it. The second person to use that tap probably doesn’t realise that the hot water has already arrived and puts an experimental hand in to test it. Instant burn. Does any of this make sense to you?
Not only is this an unnecessary hazard, it’s also a waste of money and energy resources. It’s also something you can do something about.
Most humans, if not all, can tolerate water heat to about 60ºC, that’s 140ºF, which is probably the right temperature for your shower or batch. It’s also the right temperature for your kitchen hot tap. It means that no-one gets accidentally burned, you do not have to waste cold water and you won’t be using the extra energy to build up all those useless, not to say dangerous, degrees of energy.
Solution? Have your thermostat adjusted to the temperatures given above.
