One of the most impressive things about Asian cooks is the speed at which they are able to work. Complex meals are often prepared in minutes by using the world’s best kitchen knife.

The tool I am talking about, which you will find in every Asian kitchen, is the all-purpose, cleaver-style, kitchen knife.

The best place to look for one of these knives is in your local Asian supermarket, if you have one. They are not normally available in department stores and very few cookware shops seem to carry them either.

The Asian store is much better anyway, because the price will be much lower there. Just bear in mind that I only paid $8 for mine, and it’s a good quality knife.
